I attended Professor Carlos Fernández-Loría's course last night for my HKUST MSc in Business Analytics students and invited a few guests, including three members of the MSBA Corporate Advisory Board Mike Mastroyiannis, Khai San Banh and Ho Sun Lok, FRM as well as one of our MSBA alumni Mr. HONG L. We were also joined from Barcelona via Zoom by our own Professor Coral Puig Garrigó, MBA.

This was the last lecture for the course, where Carlos discussed Deep Learning, ChatGPT, and concluded with an insightful summary of the course, beautifully capturing the role of Business Analytics in relation to Data Science and, most importantly, Business Value. He delivered it all in a fashion where one could clearly see the tremendous amount of effort he devoted to developing timely and highly relevant materials. Carlos demonstrated his dynamic breadth of knowledge and dedication to student learning. He truly was the star of the show, and those in attendance with an appropriate sense of things recognized they were in a room where they might otherwise pay a significant amount to attend a Master Class with a young guru.

Carlos's course has tremendous value in preparing our students for roles as professionals in this demanding field.

As mentioned previously, we will be organizing a full sample course in mid-February to promote the program and help students and corporate partners understand more about the uniqueness and value of our MSc in Business Analytics program. We have other courses that are gems as well.
