Strategic Design for Career Pathways Workshop (11–16 Aug 2025)
Earlier this August, HKUST MSc in Business Analytics Program hosted a one-week Design Thinking workshop, Strategic Design for Career Pathways, led by Ms Clara Aparisi in collaboration with MAKE Studios.
The week focused on helping students understand the fundamentals of design thinking in career planning and how AI can support professional growth in today’s evolving market.
What we covered:
💡The end-to-end design thinking journey, define, ideate, prototype, test, applied to career decisions.
💡Empathy and research: understanding industries and people; turning insights into practical choices.
💡Using AI as a co-pilot for research, rapid prototyping, and personal branding, with judgment and accountability remaining human.
💡Career prototyping: small experiments, feedback, iteration, and building a portfolio that grows with experience.
💡Collaboration and communication: working in teams, presenting ideas clearly, and networking with purpose.
We were pleased to have members of our MSBA Corporate Advisory Board join the sessions and share their experience with students. Sincere thanks to Ms Joyce Koh, Ms Maryann Tseng, Mr Ho Sun Lok, and Ms Celia Ding for their support and sharing.
Special thanks to Ms Clara Aparisi and MAKE Studios for designing and facilitating the workshop.
Our students leave with a practical framework grounded in creativity, empathy, collaboration, and human-centred problem solving. We look forward to seeing how they apply these tools in their studies and future careers.
